Alpha Male
Chapter Twenty-Four - Wild

Logan was running again... he knew what was happening this time, it had happened before, except this time, something was different. She smelled different, and she wasn't running like she was going to die if he caught her. He could see her up ahead, in the trees, she was loping along quickly, her long red tongue hanging out of her mouth, she looked like she was laughing. He ran after her, feeling the same need in his body as he had before. He was hard and excited, and her scent, coming into his nostrils cause tremors to run through his body.

He was closing in and she didn't seem to mind, so when he reached her he ran along beside her, not touching her, just running with her. They ran for a long time, and every once in a while she would bump into him slightly, and pretend not to notice. Once she knocked him so hard, she sent him sprawling, rolling and bumping into a tree. When he caught up with her, he could have sworn she was laughing at him. Eventually she slowed and he slowed with her, bobbing his head, nose high in the air, taking in more of her scent. She was intoxicating, and his body craved hers... he remembered the last time, and thought hard how to approach her differently than before. He wanted her to want him, he knew that it was up to her. He walked beside her slowly, whining and lowering his head, that had seemed to appease her before. After a few minutes she walked closer to him, and then stopped, touching her muzzle to his chest. His body was on fire, and he moved closer, still afraid that any minute she might change her mind. She didn't, she was ready and he was the male of her choice. She licked him softly on the face, and he knew... he couldn't wait any longer... he hoped that he wasn't moving too quickly, but he had to have her, to make her his... now. He walked over beside her, and opened his mouth, grabbing gently onto the back of her neck... she didn't fight him, she leaned in closer to his hard body, moving her tail to the side for him, and he....

" What the...?" Logan woke with the biggest hard-on he'd ever had, next to the floor episode with Ari. This whole wolf thing was really starting to get to him, he was beginning to doubt his sanity. He really needed a smoke, and he REALLY needed some cold, fresh air. He got up and threw on his clothes, and made for the door, grabbing his lighter, a cigar and his coat on the way out.

The minute Logan was in the hall he smelled her; his body reacted immediately to her scent. He sniffed the air wildly, trying to hone in on where she was headed. He frowned and followed her scent outside. Odd, that she would be going out at this hour. He followed her fresh scent around the outside of the building, and down a path. A movement caught his eye up ahead of him. - What the Hell is she doing? It has to be midnight. - His heart was in his throat with fear for her safety. She was headed into the woods; he had been in those woods many times before, it was pretty rough in there. It was on Xavier's property, but he still didn't like the idea of her being in the woods alone at night.

He started running... thoughts were racing through his head. What was she doing? Should he call out to her? He focused hard, and tried to feel her, to get a clue, an insight into what she was doing. He could feel her... he felt fear, frustration, loneliness, anger... need, desire. He lifted his nose, and breathed in deeply again. Her scent was definitely laced with the sweet aroma of strong desire. His body was hard as a rock by now, and his heart was beating madly. She wanted him badly, he knew... who else could it be? The Professor had said that she wanted him, needed him.... so why wouldn't she talk to him, let him near her? He thought about the wolf in the dream... making him chase her and then lashing out at him... maybe his mind was trying to tell him something. Could it be that Ari was playing some kind of a crazy game with him? Making him want her, and then forcing him to wait until she was ready?

He reached the edge of the woods, and slowed, not wanting to make a lot of noise. Logan knew that Ari was no stranger to the woods, she lived in the woods. If he wasn't very careful, she may just get away, and he wasn't going to let that happen. He stood completely still, breathing her scent in with closed eyes. Good, the wind was with him... he wasn't sure what abilities she had, but if her sense of smell was heightened, at least the wind was blowing in his direction. He listened intently for any sound, straining his ears to hear the slightest snap of a twig or crunch of a leaf. It was almost completely quiet. Either she stopped, or she's just really good. His heart was pounding madly, and his body wanted her terribly... he was having a ball! He grinned, and listened, straining to hear over the thudding of his heart. There! He had definitely heard a twig, and it was coming from the direction of her scent. He moved quickly and stealthily through the woods, sniffing and listening... peering into the black night with his keen eyes.

Ari had awakened from the dream on fire... She wanted Logan so bad that she knew she couldn't trust herself to be in the same building with him. She needed to get outside and she needed to get out fast! Her desire for him had reached a level that frightened her, and she wasn't sure she could make it until tomorrow without going to him. She hadn't been this bad since the night she went to him in her cabin. She hadn't been able to stop herself then, and neither had she been able to stop what happened when she was in his mind. There was a part of her, the animal part that wanted to take him, to make him belong to her, and it was so strong tonight... she was afraid of it. She had felt him following her moments after she left the building, and she had started running then, her heart in her throat. What in the Hell was he doing out here? How did he know she was out here, and was she fast enough to stay out of his grasp? When she entered the woods, she slowed to get her bearings. She sniffed... Damn! He had the wind on his side. There was nowhere to go but forward... she was going to have to be very careful. She moved in and out of trees and bushes, constantly on the move. She was using all of her heightened senses, and using them to the best of her ability. To have Logan catch her tonight would mean... well, it could mean that he would be trapped forever. She continued on, trying desperately to remind herself that would not be a good thing.

Logan had her scent and it was growing more exciting by the minute... it was still sweet and hot with desire, but now it was also filled with the sharp scent of adrenaline. He smiled, she definitely knew he was on her trail, and all of it was a complete turn-on. He was having the time of his life! Never would he have believed that he would be out in the woods, chasing the woman of his dreams tonight. It was great! This must be what she had in mind. It all made sense, the dreams, the stuff he had learned about himself... she was innocent, but she was also an animal... like him. The animal part of her wanted him, and she was 'gonna get him... tonight.

Ari knew Logan was close. She was trying so hard to be quiet, knowing that the wind was with him and he had the advantage. She didn't know how good his skills were, but she had a feeling he was a good match for her, skill to skill. She knew that her only hope was to double back and get the wind on her side, unfortunately that meant getting closer to him, rather than farther away. She chose a large oak tree to wait behind, and she felt out for him, trying to get a bead on where he was. She sucked in her breath, he was very close. She could feel the pounding of his heart, and sense the wicked cauldron of desire that was building in his body. Her heart was racing wildly, and she was trying hard to control her breathing. Her body ached for his, and lit her up completely with desire.

Ari's scent was so strong in Logan's nostrils that he couldn't believe she wasn't standing toe to toe with him. He stopped behind a large tree and scanned the woods with his eyes. He had been confused when her scent started getting closer, but he had figured out that her only hope would be to get behind him with the wind. He knew that she had slowed or stopped and was waiting for her chance. If he didn't locate her soon, it may be too late. He scanned the woods with his sharp eyes, looking for even the slightest movement. His eyes stopped for a moment, his heart racing, focusing deeply on a bush, but it was only a bird. She was nowhere to be seen. It was impossible... her scent told him that he was practically on top of her. His heart pounded loudly in his ears... of course, there was only one place she could be. He smiled and nodded his head, knowing that unless she was much, much faster than him, he had her.

Ari was bracing herself on the other side of the tree. She knew that he was very close, and her fear was mounting by the minute. He was good, really good. It irked her that he was this close at all... no one else would have been able to track her this well. She smiled, she kind of liked the fact that she had chosen a man this worthy of her affection. Now, if only she could get away. She took a step, peering around the tree, scanning the woods with her penetrating eyes. Her only option was to run, and hope she was faster than him... she knew she was fast... she only wished she knew how fast he was, and exactly how close he was. She eased around the side of the tree slowly, making sure not to make a sound with her feet.

Now, Ari!
