Logan was on his way home after one of his usual trips. This time he had been away for three months and now he felt it was time to return to the mansion. Starting this trip he wasn't going to find out something about Weapon-X, his own past or anything like that. Logan just wanted to leave. Sometimes this wish to be alone grew so strong that he couldn't fight it any more. Besides, he didn't try to fight it. Maybe after being alone most of his life (most of what he remembered, anyway) he got used to loneliness, he thought. Of course, he liked being with Jean, enjoying sweet Rogue's smile and even arguing with One-eye sometimes (though he still couldn't stand that little freak Remy, who had put his stupid eye on Marie as if not noticing HIS dog-tags on her neck). Logan realized that he was getting sick of all those people around him who knew so much about him. He started arguing with his friends and spending more and more time in Danger Room. It lasted for a couple of days and when he finally realized he felt much like killing One-eye or that ugly Rogue's freak or somebody else just for being there, it was obviously time to leave. Logan did it regularly. He had to. A couple of months was enough to regain control and return to "normal state". As a rule he spent time looking for some signs of Weapon-X along the way. But not this time. He was exhausted and empty and spent three months moving from town to town and taking part in cage-fights occasionally.

It was late spring and it was really warm already. The road he was driving his truck along, was surrounded with green trees, birds were singing around, the hot sun was burning down from a cloudless sky. Almost Heaven. However Logan wasn't fond of spring. Winter was much closer to his emotional state, so if there was season he really liked, it must have been winter.

The road was empty and Logan being deep in thought didn't pay much attention to what was happening there. Trees bordered the road on both sides. He was coming around the bend when he noticed somebody on the road right in front of him. Struggling to avoid a crash, Logan turned the wheel futilely, but it was too late. He heard a muffled hit and something like a gasp. It took a moment for him to realize that the gasp was his. The truck had finally stopped. Logan got out quickly, looked behind and gasped again. There was a girl on the ground near the road, where she has been thrown by the impact. She was laying on her front, her hair spread wildly around her head. There was a white bag near her that must have slid from her shoulder. The girl didn't move. Logan ran to her and knelt by her side to check her pulse. He was scared shitless. The last thing he wanted to be was the accidental killer of a young human. The pulse was steady and quite strong to his relief. The girl must be only in a state of shock, or so he hoped. He carefully turned her on her back to check for damage and was stunned. She was beautiful. He had seen (and not only seen) many women, young and middle-age, most of them were nice, some of them even pretty. But this girl was BEAUTIFUL. Straight light-brown hair was framing her sunburned triangle-shaped face. Her naturally long lashes didn't need mascara, anymore than her small but well-shaped lips needed the light-rose lipstick they were covered with. The scent of her smooth skin came to his nostrils. He inhaled deeply and shook his head. <<What do you think you're doing, Logan! Shit! What right do you have to admire a young unconscious girl whom you've nearly killed with your truck and careless driving! Just help her and that's it! besides she's too young even for the age you look like you are.>>

Logan looked for any signs of damage on her body and found only some bruises on her arms. She obviously was lucky. He lifted the girl on his arms and carried her into the truck to place her on the bed for now. After a moment hesitation he returned back onto the road to take her white bag too, when he noticed something else there. It appeared to be a skateboard. Logan was puzzled. The nearest town was about six miles away from here. Had she come from there on a skateboard? He frowned, but grabbed both bag and board and went back to the truck.

The girl was still unconscious, so Logan sat on the edge of the bed and checked her pulse again. He knew it was stable but he needed an excuse to touch her smooth skin again. His hand involuntary traced down her neck and Logan barely kept it from sliding onto one of her perfect breasts. Instead he brushed her shoulder lightly and put his hands on his knees, clenching fists for a moment. He held his palms there letting his gaze wander on her young body. She wore tight short T-shirt and well-worn light-blue jeans that must have hung on her tiny waist and fallen down onto her hips. His gaze traced back to her face, to her closed eyes. Logan wondered what color they were, when they opened abruptly. It caught him unaware so he nearly jumped on his feet. Her eyes were dark green with panic in them.

"Are you ok?" he said quietly moving closer to her. She ducked to the side of the bed trying to get away from him. Logan was puzzled. Obviously he didn't look perfectly after a long trip, though he hoped his appearance wasn't THAT bad.

"I won't hurt you. You're safe" he said trying to calm her, hoping that all that was nothing but post-shock.

"Don't touch me" she said hoarsely. Logan frowned but quit it immediately realizing that she might be frightened by the expression on his face.

Suddenly the girl tried to sit up, but appeared to be too weak and lost her balance. Noticing that she had started to fall down directly on the floor, Logan reached both his hands to catch her paying no attention to her scream "NO!!!" The last thing he felt was her smooth skin when he caught her wrist. Then Logan was overwhelmed with a strong, unbelievably powerful pull. What he had felt from Rogue was nothing compared with this. It felt like tornado twisted inside his body taking all of him away. After a few seconds he couldn't handle it anymore.

Darkness grew in his eyes and he fell on the floor unconscious.
