Dearest Rogue,

It has been a while, has it not? I can't particuarly say I've missed our little chats--you were never particuarly well spoken and had a hard time listening to reason. But you were a child then--and from what our newest guest tells me, you've grown into quite the woman.

He is a sick man, is he not? I have to say I'm surprised at you, Rogue, letting someone like him touch you. Quite an animal, he is. I'm afraid he's a very sorry houseguest--he's hurt several of my brothers already, and put a few nice sized holes in my wall.

I'm sure you are wondering by now why I am writing--and what on earth I'm alluding to regarding your boyfriend--he is your boyfriend, isn't he? I would hope that he has offered some sort of commitment to you by now, if half of the things he's been babbling about you are true.

It's amazing what a man will say under the influence of pain.

For instance--he told us all about the dogtags around his neck. Nearly killed poor Toad when he tried to take them away. He was quite insistent that they belonged to you--so I decided to honor his wishes. After all, it's the only one I'll be honoring for some time.

I'm sending this to you, Rogue, and not to Charles, because I know we understand each other. Charles is unwilling to make sacrifices--and I can tell you why. He has never been able to become close enough to another person to want to guard them above strangers.

He let me kidnap you, you know. You were unconscious, but he was watching as I carried you off that first time. He let me do it, because he was too worried that strangers, that humans would get hurt.

You are different, Rogue. You understand loyalty. So I will make this very, very simple. I have Logan, and there is very little chance I'll let him go. You are the only one I will let see him. You are the only one who can save him.

I have need of you, Rogue. I have need of your powers and of you, yourself. I have no intentions of killing you this time--I need you alive and strong. And willing.

Logan heals fast, you understand. But it doesn't mean he can survive anything--and I'm afraid Sabertooth is getting less gentle every day. If you don't hurry, I'm afraid there might not be much left of him.

Of course, you understand I can't tell you where I am. That, my dear, would be folly--I have no intention of having Charles and his children invading my home. You, however, are most welcome--and I'm sure that Logan would be most pleased to see you. After he heals a little, that is. He's in no shape to even recognize who you are right now.

I'm sorry it had to come to this, Rogue, but in the end, you will understand. I have sent you Logan's tags as a sign of my goodwill--but as you may have seen, he's bleed a little on them. Let that be your warning.

Leave tomorrow. Take train number twenty-seven to it's final stop. If you're alone, someone will meet you there and bring you to Logan.

If you're not, you'll never see him again.

Do hurry, Rogue. I don't know how much longer I can keep him alive for.

With all my best,

Eric

"What do you mean she's gone?"

Kitty was practically in tears, shaking as she shoved the letter into Scott's hands. "She--she stuck it in my schoolbook, so I didn't find it until just now. We have to find her--we have to go after her--"

Scott took the bloodstained paper from the shaking young girl and scanned it, his face going pale. "Did you see her last night?"

"She was acting normal." Kitty wrapped her arms around herself. "I thought everything was fine--she just said she was tired. I'm sorry, Scott--I'm sorry--"

Scott put an arm around the younger girl absently, his eyes still glued to the letter. "It's not your fault, Kitty." His mind was already casting out for Jeans, and within moments she was with him, her presence inside his head soothing.

//We're in trouble, Jean--// he thought carefully, and then read the letter again, and he knew she was reading it along with him.

Kitty was still crying when the alarms went off.
